OxRec (Oxford Risk of Recidivism) is een algoritme dat door Reclassering Nederland werd gebruikt om recidiverisico te berekenen. Het bleek vol fouten te zitten: verwisselde formules, verouderde data, en discriminerende variabelen.

Hoeveel mensen zijn gedupeerd?

Ruim 80.640 mensen tussen 2018 en 2026 kregen een advies gebaseerd op het defecte OxRec-algoritme. Velen zaten daardoor langer vast of kregen zwaardere maatregelen.

Hoe kan ik schadevergoeding krijgen?

Door mee te doen aan de WAMCA-collectieve actie. Inschrijving kost €15 (standaard) of €25 (met extra steun). De stichting voert de procedure voor alle deelnemers.

De Wet Afwikkeling Massaschade in Collectieve Actie (WAMCA) maakt het mogelijk om collectief schadevergoeding te eisen zonder dat elke gedupeerde individueel hoeft te procederen.

What happened?

The Oxford Risk of Recidivism (OxRec) algorithm was used by Dutch Probation to calculate re-offending risk. This advice is decisive for judges in granting conditional release, contact bans, and even TBS orders.

On 12 February 2026, the Inspectorate of Justice and Security concluded the algorithm was seriously flawed:

Crucial formulas were swapped — the model systematically miscalculated risk
Outdated Swedish data — trained on a dataset not applicable to the Netherlands
Drug problems omitted — one of the strongest recidivism indicators ignored
Serious mental illness ignored
Postcode & income led to indirect ethnic profiling
1 in 5 cases were wrong — mostly underestimating risk
